Defined by its rounded silhouette and elevated proportions, Odette
balances soft volume with a visually light structure. Resting on a continuous
steel frame, the upholstered body appears almost suspended above the
floor, giving the chair a distinct sense of openness despite its generous form.
The design reflects Norm Architects’ ongoing exploration of soft
minimalism, where comfort is shaped as much by proportion and restraintas by tactility. “We were interested in the contrast between a generous,
embracing volume and a light, architectural frame,” say Norm Architects.
“The aim was to create a chair that feels calm and comforting without
becoming visually heavy.”
The continuous steel base traces the outline of the chair in one uninterrupted
line, introducing structure and definition to the softer upholstered form.
At the same time, the compact footprint allows Odette to settle naturally
into a variety of spaces, from private interiors to lounge and hospitality
environments.
